Airscoot

Airscoot

Certainly one of the smallest cars ever built, the ingenious Airscoot was designed in 1947 to transport pilots to and from airports, the idea being that you could fold it up and stow it on board. It measured just 934 mm (37in) long, 508 mm (20in) tall and weighed 33 kg (72 lb), yet could carry 204 kg (450 lb). Top speed was 25mph (ca. 40 km/h) and it could do 60mpg (3.9 l/100 km). Passenger and stowage accommodations included seats for two passengers and a luggage rack in front for two suitcases. Airscoot was equipped with one-cylinder, 2.6 horsepower (1.9 kW) air-cooled engine. The Airscoot was made by Aircraft Products of Wichita, Kansas.
