British Leyland SRV4
Safety was a major focus in the 1970s, and British Leyland joined the movement with its line of Safety Research Vehicles.
British Leyland SRV4, built on a Mini Clubman platform, sported a redesigned front end designed to better absorb impacts and reduce injury risk to pedestrians.
Additional safety upgrades included reinforced side sills, a heavily padded interior, a driver’s airbag, and run-flat tyres.
Today, the SRV4 is part of the collection at the British Motor Museum.
