WFM P80

WFM P80

The WFM P80 was constructed by J.Przylski of Bytom, Poland. The prototype was made by Zakłady Wytwórcze Urządzeń Sygnaloizacyjnych in Katowice. In 1957, a prototype of this Polish autoscuter was presented at the Youth Palace in Katowice.

The car had a three-wheeled chassis (two wheels at the front + one at the rear). The open roadster-type body was devoid of doors and roof. The P80 weighted 190 kg.

The vehicle’s chassis is a welded tubular steel frame and independent front wheel suspension on longitudinal control arms with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers, and the rear wheel suspension on a trailing arm with two spring elements (coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers).

Initially, it was powered by a 250 cm³ WFM made engine with 12 hp. It was an engine created by combining two WFM S01 engines of 125 cc each. However, the creation of this drive unit proved to be very cumbersome, complicated and expensive. In the course of testing, it was replaced by a serial Czechoslovakian Jawa 250 engine.

The car reached speeds as high as 75 km/h. The payload capacity of the WFM P80 was 150 kg. The brakes were mechanical, acting on all three wheels. The fuel tank had a capacity of 15 liters, which, with a fuel consumption of about 3.5 – 4 l/100 km, provided a range of about 375 – 430 km.

The vehicle was to be manufactured by the Warsaw Motorcycle Factory. Ultimately, it was not approved for production. Unfortunately, the P80 has not survived to our time.
