Citroën Scarabée d’Or

The Citroën Scarabée d’Or prototype made its debut in March 1990 at the Geneva Motor Show. The preparation of the car, which had no mechanical components at all beneath its body panels, was handled by the well-known French engineering and design company Heuliez.

The vehicle was conceived as a small all-wheel-drive car and featured only two seats permanently installed in the cabin: one for the driver and one for the front passenger. Two additional seats were hidden in the luggage compartment.

In 1990, immediately after the Geneva premiere of the Citroën Scarabée d’Or alongside with Peugeot Agades, music producer Eddie Barclay wanted to buy the concept car, but Heuliez refused to install an engine in it, as they had not received permission to do so from Citroën.
