1969 Reliant Regal Supervan – “Only Fools & Horses”

Sold for £14,872

Whether on the big screen or the small, vehicles often become characters in their own right, and few examples illustrate this better than Only Fools and Horses.

Although the series ended more than 30 years ago, it remains hugely popular. Its unforgettable partnership of market traders Del Boy and his half-brother Rodney is inseparable from the Reliant Supervan III they used in their endless, often ill-fated quests to strike it rich.

Much like the DeLorean in Back to the Future, the yellow-and-red Fiat Cinquecento in The Inbetweeners, or Herbie’s famous Volkswagen Beetle, an otherwise ordinary car becomes extraordinary when placed at the centre of a story.

It’s no surprise that countless fans have since created replicas of Del Boy’s iconic three-wheeler—this example among them.

Registered in 1969, the van remained with one keeper until the vendor’s father purchased it in 2010. Following his passing earlier this year, his son and daughter have now entrusted the sale of the Reliant to us.

A new battery has recently been fitted, though the van has spent the past several years stored indoors and not in regular use. It will require some bodywork attention—including damage to the offside front bumper—but the interior remains in good condition.

Offered without reserve, it represents a chance to acquire a beloved piece of television history and a vehicle that has been in long-term, caring ownership. Consigned by Charlie McCreery.
