1971 Austin Mini Cooper 1275 S Mk3
An original, UK-supplied Mk3 Mini Cooper S, presented in excellent, highly usable condition and retaining its sought-after Hydrolastic suspension and factory features.
First registered on 01/07/1971, this genuine UK-market Mini Cooper S 1275 shows 68,348 miles and has been with its current owner for the past six years, having had seven previous keepers.
The Mk3 Cooper S was among the last models to feature Hydrolastic suspension, and this example continues to ride on it, sitting on correct steel Cooper S wheels shod with Yokohama tyres, all in very good condition.
Its matching-numbers engine and gearbox were fully rebuilt by Mini Sport in 2020 and have seen minimal use since. Performance is strong, with smooth gear changes and the distinctive Cooper S character.

The mechanical setup includes twin SU carburettors, the original airbox, a three-branch manifold, and a full Maniflow centre-exit exhaust that delivers the proper period soundtrack.
Cosmetically, the car presents very well, showing a light patina consistent with age. It has received some paintwork over the years, including a professionally replaced driver’s door skin finished to a high standard. Inside, it retains many original features believed to include the carpets, headlining, and seats, along with the original door cards.
Additional desirable details include twin fuel tanks, a Cooper S spare wheel, jack, wheel brace, spare keys, and original fittings such as the blue bonnet badge and accelerator pedal rubber.
The car is accompanied by a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and a file of invoices for restoration and maintenance work. As a historic vehicle, it remains both MOT- and tax-exempt — a charming, well-preserved example ready to be enjoyed.
