1979 Austin Morris Mini 1275 GT

1979 Austin Morris Mini 1275 GT

A time-capsule Mini 1275 GT with just 38,931 miles, finished in black with gold decals, and stored untouched since 1984.

Launched in 1969 as the successor to the Cooper S, the Mini 1275 GT offered sportier specifications, square-front styling, and enhanced performance, bridging the classic Mini into the 1970s.

This example was first registered in 1979 and originally owned by a friend of the current vendor. It was actively used until 1984, when it was carefully stored in a carpeted garage as the family expanded, remaining there until the owner’s passing.

Acquired by the current owner in 2019, the car received new ignition components and was checked over before returning to a private collection, where it has remained until now. Exceptionally well preserved, it shows just 38,931 miles, with a stamped service book up to 1980 and the final Tax Disc expiring in June 1984.

Finished in black with classic gold Mini 1275 GT side-stripe decals and a grey-and-black patterned interior, it sits on 12″ wheels and retains fine period detailing throughout. Power comes from a 1,275cc inline-four engine producing approximately 59 bhp, driving the front wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox.

The car is supplied with its original Mini 1275 GT handbook, Passport to Service, and period invoices. A rare survivor, this remarkably original and unrestored late 1275 GT represents a fantastic opportunity for collectors or enthusiasts.

Sold for £12,600 at The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 by Iconic Auctions.
