1982 Austin Mini 1000 MkII
This 1982 Austin Mini 1000 is a charming example of the quintessential British classic, understood to have received various restorative works over the years.
Power comes from the 1.0-litre A-Series inline-four, paired with a four-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels.
First registered in August 1982, it has been owned by its current keeper — the sixth on record — for the past four years. The odometer displays 51,203 miles, though this figure is not warranted.
The car is finished in Primula Yellow with a contrasting black roof and ‘82’ roundels, while the interior is trimmed in black upholstery with yellow piping.

It sits on 10-inch JBW four-spoke wheels in black with polished rims, fitted with Falken FK-07E tyres. Cabin equipment includes a three-spoke steering wheel, a heated rear window, and simple heating and ventilation controls. A spare wheel is included, along with a single ignition key.
Recent servicing has been extensive. In December 2024, Hilton & Moss carried out major work, including refitting the cylinder head, replacing the engine oil and filter, refilling the cooling system with antifreeze, renewing fuel pipes and the alternator belt, repairing the offside front CV gaiter clip, re-shimming both upper and lower ball joints, installing a new radiator, replacing the gear-change seal at the gearbox, fitting new rear shock absorbers (requiring removal of the fuel tank), renewing engine stabiliser bushes and the offside track-rod end, and investigating further cylinder-head issues with valve removal.
The workshop also diagnosed failed headlamps caused by a faulty switch and a melted section of loom, subsequently replacing the switch and repairing the wiring with a new connector. The work concluded with a road test and a cylinder-head re-torque.

Hilton & Moss had also fitted a new clutch slave cylinder in October 2024. Earlier maintenance includes a 2019 service by Classic Car Care, which involved ignition work, carburettor adjustment, brake maintenance, new seals and gaskets for the front hubs and driveline components, and fresh engine oil and filter.
In 2018, at 49,146 miles indicated, Midhurst Engineering installed a new battery, throttle cable, and front brake hoses, before cleaning and adjusting the carburettor and fuel system. In 2016, at a recorded zero miles following odometer reset, Midhurst Engineering carried out significant bodywork repairs, including sill and floor welding, replacement scuttle panels and front wings, bulkhead welding, and a fuel-tank clean.
Overall, this 1982 Austin Mini 1000 presents as an engaging piece of British motoring history, offered in an eye-catching colour scheme and benefitting from considerable mechanical attention. It would make a delightful weekend runabout, a charismatic show entrant, or even a nostalgic everyday driver.
