AEM Scout
The AEM (Automotive Engineering & Manufacturing Company) Scout is a Welsh-built Mini Moke based microcar with a simplified utility body. It has zinc-coated bodywork and totally different way of building the body.
It was made for only one year, 1987, in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. The AEM Scout has a Mini engine, transmission, front subframe and Hydragas suspension. The vehicle was advertised with soft top or a glazed GRP hardtop, and could be purchased as a basic kit, fully built or as a “knock down unit” with all the major components ready for assembly.
The Scout kit-car has unsuccessful history. It was firstly presented by Import Export of Spalding, Lincolnshire in 1983 and produced till 1985. Then it was made by AEM in 1987 and after the demise of the company the design was taken up by The Sun Motor Company of Solihull from 1990 to 1991.
A rare 6-wheel version AEM Commanchero Six was produced for a hotel chain in the Middle East.
