The French company Citroën is reviving its partnership with Rip Curl. Another joint project is a buggy based on the electric Ami. The Buggy version embodies the spirit of a carefree adventurer through unique colours and materials, as well as a design developed specifically for surfers.
The Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision was unveiled in Hossegor during the final of the international Rip Curl GromSearch surfing competition, of which Citroën is a partner. The event took place from 4 to 8 November 2025.
Throughout the competition week, Citroën provided a fleet of vehicles to transport participants and offered test drives of the Ami and Ami Buggy. This model is particularly well suited to an event aimed at young people under 16, as it is available from the age of 14 without a driving licence.
The concept was shown at the opening and closing ceremonies as well as throughout the competition. This marks a new chapter in the collaboration between Citroën and Rip Curl, whose story will soon continue.
The partnership between Citroën and Rip Curl began in 2016 with a special edition of the C4 Cactus, followed in 2018 by the C4 Picasso, SpaceTourer and C3 Aircross, and in 2021 by the Berlingo. Thanks to Rip Curl’s expertise, the design of this electric vehicle has been optimised for surfers, with well-thought-out storage solutions, increased space and features suited to leisure use.
The car stands out with a distinctive design in which a purple body colour contrasts with a white roof hatch, a black canvas cover and a black spoiler. White decals on the rear window, white headlights and a white LED light bar on the roof ensure optimal visibility. The eco-friendly interior features soft seat cushions with Rip Curl-style graphics, complemented by purple storage compartments on the dashboard.
The Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision also includes a range of practical and innovative accessories, such as floor mats made from recycled surf wetsuits that are waterproof and easy to clean, a portable shower and mat for clean entry after surfing, a waterproof bag for wet gear, and a new banana-style pouch attached to the steering wheel for in-car storage and everyday use. There is also a foldable waterproof storage container on the passenger side, as well as board covers on the roof and sides.
In addition, a dedicated leisure accessories line has been developed as part of the project. It includes a surfboard featuring Citroën x Rip Curl graphics, a wax comb shaped like the Ami, an Ami keyring, and a glass sphere created by artist Charlotte Burrus that symbolises the shared universe of both brands: leisure, surfing, adventure and freedom. The range is completed by a purple Bluetooth speaker that echoes the colour of the bodywork.
