ElectricKar K5 (K5M-2500)
The sales of ElectricKar K5 EV which claims to be the cheapest in the world have been started in China. The price will be only $2,100.
The ElectricKar K5 is LSEV (Low Speed Electric Vehicle) in Chinese classification. It could be a competitor to microcars from Europe like the Citroën Ami (6,900 euros) or the Freze Nikrob (9,999 euros).
The model, also known as the K5M-2500, is manufactured by Regal Raptor Motors, known for its electric transportation solutions. Now the electric car is already on sale on the Chinese marketplace Alibaba, slightly more expensive than the iPhone 12 Pro Max with 512 GB of memory – the price of the latter in China is about $1,850. By the way, if you buy a batch of these EVs, 10 copies each, then it will be even cheaper – the price per unit will be only $1,800.
The electricKar K5 measures only 2200x1090x1620 mm, however it can accommodate two people. The battery has a capacity of 2.7 kWh (72 V) and can be charged in 8 hours from a household outlet. The 800 W electric motor will allow you to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h, the battery charge will be enough for 66 km.
The popular Ather 450X electric scooter has a 6000 W engine, a 2.9 kWh battery with a 5.45 hour charging time and is able to travel up to 80 km. It costs about the same.
Despite the interesting design, price and characteristics, there is almost no chance for the car for export markets – after customs procedures, it will cost much more than $2,100.
