EV Mobility LEF
An interesting vehicle was presented in the Netherlands, which closely resembles a bicycle car or a three-wheeled electric bike with a cabin. But in reality, LEF is neither one nor the other. It’s a micro-electric car with no pedals.
The LEF manufactured by the Dutch company EV Mobility is an alternative to a bike but with a closed cab like a car. Despite its diminutive size the LEF is actually designed to carry up to 200 kg. The total weight of an EV with a recycled polyethylene body is 90 kg. The maximum speed is at 25 km/h.
The company says its electric three-wheeler is safer and more comfortable than traditional bicycles and scooters. Its closed design provides more collision protection than open two-wheelers. Its front end does not need pedal space, making it more streamlined than most other bike/car hybrids.
So far, the Netherlands is the only country in which the use of LEF is allowed on public roads for everyone aged 16 and over and even without a license.
The single passenger compartment of the electric vehicle is covered with a transparent dome, the color of which can be selected from seven available options. The driver can take his seat by sliding the retractable racing steering wheel forward. The interior of the car is decorated with a liquid crystal display, which displays information about the battery charge level, speed and remaining power reserve.
The car comes with a USB port for charging smartphones and a 50-liter cargo compartment behind the driver’s back. Standard equipment includes LED lighting, a set of side mirrors and electric wipers are offered for a surcharge.
The LEF is driven by a 1000 W (1.4 HP) rear wheel motor. The lithium battery with a capacity of 10 Ah works in a 48 V system and can be charged from the household power supply. The base model starts at 4,380 euros.
