Fiat Tris
Fiat’s commercial division has unveiled a new light-duty truck called the Tris. This ultra-compact three-wheeler is primarily designed for urban last-mile delivery, which explains its relatively short range of just 90 kilometers (56 miles) on a single charge. Sales are primarily targeted at markets in Africa and the Middle East.
Despite its modest length of only 3.17 meters (10.4 feet), the Fiat Tris features a cargo bed large enough to accommodate a Euro pallet, with a usable area of 2.25 square meters (24.2 square feet). The electric vehicle is capable of carrying up to 540 kilograms (1,190 pounds) of payload.
The Tris is powered by an electric motor producing 12 horsepower and 45 Nm (33 lb-ft) of torque, with a top speed limited to 45 km/h (28 mph). The powertrain runs on a 6.9-kWh battery, which can be fully recharged from a household outlet in 4 hours and 40 minutes.
Fiat promises that the Tris will be comfortable enough for extended working hours. However, the currently announced features include only LED lighting, 12-inch wheels, and a 5.7-inch instrument display. Additionally, a dedicated range of accessories will be developed for the model.
Fiat also plans to offer the Tris not only as a cargo truck but also as a cab-chassis platform for custom upfit installations.
