Getting around a big city can be quite complicated, and people who use vehicles want to avoid traffic jams and move around more freely. That is why some brands are working to offer electric mobility solutions for every situation.
The solution coming from Komma, a Swiss start-up, is this vehicle, marketed as something between an electric car and a motorcycle.
The vehicle was designed in collaboration with the automotive design studio Grandstudio. The idea is to offer the comfort of a car and the freedom of a motorcycle in urban traffic. Production is scheduled for 2025, but several units will be tested throughout 2024 in order to refine details and deliver a high-quality vehicle to users.
The company does not want to stop at electric mobility alone, but also aims to reduce the vehicle’s carbon footprint during production. To achieve this, work is being done on the models that have already been built and will undergo testing so that the number of parts can be reduced even further, lowering the carbon footprint even more.
Among the design details visible on the presented vehicles is the dual wheel on each axle. This helps provide stability without completely eliminating the feeling of riding a motorcycle.
As for the powertrain and battery, this proposal promises good performance. The battery has a capacity of 7.5 kWh, although a dual-battery option will also be available, increasing capacity to 15 kWh. Range is estimated at up to 200 kilometers.
Charging is designed to work with a standard charger, although it can also be done with a fast charger. That said, this method is not recommended for regular use. As for the motor, it has not yet been announced, so that remains unknown for now, until the final details are confirmed.
This vehicle has a 1+1 layout, meaning the passenger and driver sit facing each other. It is equipped with ABS, seat belts, and even airbags. The suspension and steering system allow it to lean, so it can provide the sensation of riding a motorcycle.
