Mazda Pair

Mazda Pair

The Mazda Pair Concept debuted at the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show as an unusual micro-van and trailer prototype aimed at life in dense urban environments.

Conceived as a highly adaptable vehicle, it was designed to serve multiple roles depending on need, from personal transport to light-duty utility work, all while remaining easy to maneuver through crowded city streets.

The trailer was shorter but a bit taller than the van and had gullwing doors for easy access to cargo.

Compact proportions were central to the idea. The Pair measured 2700 mm in length, 1450 mm in width, and 1600 mm in height, riding on a 1800 mm wheelbase.

With a curb weight of just 750 kg, the concept emphasized lightness and efficiency, reinforcing Mazda’s vision of a flexible, city-friendly vehicle system rather than a single-purpose car.
