Yamaha MWC-4
The mobility future becomes electric. Yamaha showcased a very special prototype MWC-4 at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, which closes the gap between motorcycles and cars.
The MWC-4 is an electrically powered, four-wheeled vehicle that combines driving characteristics of a car and motorcycle. The concept is a kind of a high-tech Renault Twizy, which, thanks to lean technology, should offer significantly more driving pleasure than any other microcars .
The four-wheeled vehicle should combine the comfort characteristics of a car with the driving pleasure of a motorcycle. According to Yamaha, the MWC-4 offers a design inspired by motorcycles and musical instruments. Like a Renault Twizy, it features tandem seating, a windscreen, fixed roof, and open sides. But it’s controlled by handlebars (not a steering wheel), and actually leans into corners (instead of staying perpendicular to the road surface).
Power comes from a pair of electric motors, with a gasoline engine on board to serve as a range extender.
