Fiat 500 Dolcevita
A model called the Fiat 500 was presented in the 1930s and changed several generations. But the Fiat Nuova 500, presented on July 4, 1957, became the most famous. Now it has turned 62, and it’s time to make a new special edition, thinks Fiat. A year ago FIAT introduced the 500th in a retro edition called Spiaggina ’58. To celebrate the birthday of the historic Fiat 500, the company decided to make a new a special edition – the Fiat 500 Dolcevita.
Dolcevita Edition offers two body styles to choose from: a convertible and a hatchback with a panoramic glass roof. The Dolcevita version of the convertible stands out even more than a closed hatchback. For the first time in history, this model received a soft top with horizontal white and blue stripes with an embroidered red “500” logo inspired by sun loungers and beach umbrellas of the Italian Riviera of the sixties.
The same style continues inside by decorating the front panel with natural wood, ivory Frau leather-trimmed seats, embroidered with the 500 logo, red edging and a wicker cetner part. You can order 500 Dolcevite with a 69-horsepower 1.2 engine (manual or Dualogic automated transmission), with an 85-horsepower 0.9 Twin Air unit or a 69-horsepower 1.2 LPG. The last two engines work only with a manual gearbox.
“The new 500 Dolcevita special edition is an invitation to relive the mood of the Sixties, when Rome was the capital of the international jet-set, home to chic nightclubs and luxury hotels that drew actors and writers, while politicians and VIPs met at the tables of trendy cafes. Their stories were told by the photojournalists of Via Veneto, the “paparazzi”, who become the witness of the crazy nights in Rome ready to take pictures and sell stories and scandals to the tabloids. And one of the most indelible images of that period is the very famous scene of Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg in the Trevi Fountain, from the film “La dolce vita” (1960) by Federico Fellini. These were the unforgettable years of the “Dolce Vita” during which Italy restarted with new momentum and enthusiasm, often in a 500, the car created to provide an affordable answer to the people’s growing need for mobility and freedom.”
Fiat 500 Dolcevita features Gelato White livery with thin red stripes around the body, chrome Dolcevita inscription on the back and shiny nameplates “500” on the middle rack and lining on board, chrome on the mirror bodies and 16-inch white alloy wheels.
