Citroen Ami For All
The Citroen Ami has got a new version For All. The miniature city electric car was created especially for drivers in wheelchairs. Citroen Ami For All is adapted for drivers who have lost one or two lower limbs. The idea to create such version was born at the employee of Stellantis Christophe Lapeye.
Currently in prototype stage, the Ami for All boasts upgraded accessibility through its customized interior elements, adjusted driving mechanisms, and a choice of two wheelchair storage solutions.
The door opens to a larger angle for easy boarding and unloading, and a special step in the driver’s seat is tilted to make it easier to move from a wheelchair.
Hand controls is installed, include a mechanical lever to control both the accelerator and brakes, as well as a steering wheel knob for improved grip and maneuverability.
When disassembled, the wheelchair can be kept in the passenger compartment, secured by a specially designed strap that holds the wheels in place on the passenger footwell and a seatbelt that fastens the wheelchair body. In case the driver is accompanied, an aluminum rack at the back of the vehicle can hold the folded wheelchair, freeing up space inside for an extra passenger.
There are no changes from a technical point of view. The Citroen Ami For All is equipped with an 8-horsepower motor and a 5.5 kW∙h battery. It accelerates up to 45 km/h and has a range of 70 km. In many European countries, you do not need a driver’s license to drive such a low-power car.
The new Citroen Ami For All will be presented at the exhibition in Paris. The model has all chances to become a serial one. In this case it will be quite cheap, because the standard Citroen Ami costs from 7,000 euros ($7,500).
