Fiat 126 Minimaxi Moretti
First introduced in 1970, the Minimaxi models—initially built on the Fiat 500 platform and later on the Fiat 126—became the backbone of Moretti’s production throughout the 1970s.
From 1973 onward, the 126-based Minimaxi entered the lineup. Its design followed a simple, jeep-like concept with a folding front windscreen, no fixed roof, and no doors as standard.
Buyers who needed more protection could add a canvas top and matching canvas doors. The overall look changed very little over the years, with the most noticeable updates being the addition of a rollover hoop behind the front seats and the switch from the Fiat 500’s round headlights to the 126’s square units.
For the version built on the 126, Moretti also offered a hardtop and metal doors with opening windows, along with an optional expanded instrument cluster that included a tachometer for those who wanted a more complete setup.
