EV roadster from the USSR

This compact electric roadster was created by schoolchildren at the turn of the 60s and 70s of the last century in the USSR. The car is designed for two teenagers or one adult. In the design of the electric car, components and assemblies of mass-produced cars and motorcycles, which were produced at that time in the USSR, were used.

The EV is driven by a modified electric starter from “Moskvich-400”. The electric car is powered by a starting battery with a capacity of 96 Ah. It is interesting that the roadster has an on-board voltage of 6 Volts.

Today, many car manufacturers boast that their electric vehicles and hybrids have a one-pedal control mode. The same principle was implemented on this roadster more than 50 years ago. But the single pedal activated the mechanical brakes, which only slowed the rear axle. The electric car was started with a toggle switch on the torpedo and by default moved at the same, rather brisk, speed. Another switch on the instrument panel was responsible for the headlights and taillights.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to find information about the power reserve and maximum speed of the electric roadster. But this compact roadster drove through the streets of the USSR even before Elon Musk was born!
