Honda Micro EV Concept

One of the most charming debuts at Honda’s booth during the Japan Mobility Show 2025 was the Micro EV — a pint-sized, two-seat electric concept designed to cover that crucial “last mile” between public transport and the workplace.

While still a design study, Honda sees these ultra-compact mobility solutions as a key part of urban transportation’s future, especially for commuters in densely populated cities.

For now, Honda has no production plans for the Micro EV, but designer Shuntaro Sato from the e-Mobility Design Studio describes it as an exploration of affordable, space-efficient mobility. The adorable two-seater features a single bench seat integrated into the body structure to maximize interior space — think Smart car, but even smaller.

A clever touch: the area beneath the seat is designed to store a skateboard or another personal mobility device. The Micro EV uses a yoke-style steering wheel that can hold a smartphone, with a wide horizontal display across the dash to show select phone information (though not full mirroring). Minimalism rules the interior, with only illuminated lock/unlock buttons on the doors and materials chosen for low cost and simplicity.

Honda hasn’t revealed any battery or range specs, nor hinted at potential markets if the model ever reaches production. According to Sato, the concept aims to look unmistakably like a Honda — appealing to younger buyers while remaining easy to enter and exit for older users. It builds on ideas from the earlier CI-MEV concept shown two years ago, proving that Honda hasn’t abandoned the micro-mobility vision.
