As part of the 1968 transformation experiment known as the new economic mechanism in Hungary, the Electricity Research Institute (Villamosipari Kutató Intézet) received a new director in the person of Dr. József Lukács.
In 1969, led by Rezső Denk, one of the heads of department, with the help of a company from Szolnok, a thyristor-controlled hospital electric vehicle called Hospedit was made.
The pictures show clearly where the patient may have been lying — right to the driver’s seat. The clever use of space allows the driver to take a nurse with them in addition to the patient on the stretcher.
It is probable that the design of these experimental vehicles was made by József Cserny, a well-known designer of the era.
