Softcar
A super-compact electric car with interchangeable polymer bodies has been created in Switzerland.
Developed by the company Softcar, it is a four-seater quadricycle based on a single chassis that can be fitted with various attachments. So far only a hatchback with a pair of lifting doors has been shown, but the new product can also be converted into a coupé, convertible, buggy or van.
The one-piece body is made from an innovative polymer and the entire car has 1.8 thousand parts – an order of magnitude fewer than conventional cars. The single electric motor, with a peak output of 41 hp, turns the rear wheels and allows acceleration to 90 km/h – the limit for this class. Battery-only versions will be able to travel 100 or 200 kilometres on a single charge, but buyers will also be offered a version with a combustion engine generator, increasing the range to 400 km.
The new product, when ready for production, will cost at least 23 thousand euros – and this is expensive: for example, a full-fledged electric car Dacia Spring costs from 16.9 thousand euros in Germany.
