Toyota unveiled its prototype electronic town car, the Toyota Commuter, at the 17th Tokyo Motor Show in 1970.
Designed as a versatile, door-to-door vehicle, the Commuter is intended for short-range use in confined urban areas—such as local commuting, school runs, shopping districts, factory grounds, or railway station complexes.
Powered by lead-acid batteries, it produces no exhaust emissions whatsoever. No plans for mass production were announced.
