Tazzari Zero

Tazzari Zero is a compact battery-electric microcar developed by Tazzari Group in Imola, Italy, and first unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show 2009. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, offering an all-electric driving range of up to 140 km (87 miles).

Tazzari Zero model featured rear-wheel drive with a three-phase asynchronous motor positioned above the rear axle, delivering impressive torque of up to 150 Nm for quick acceleration—reaching 50 km/h in roughly 5 seconds.

Its lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery pack provided a practical range of 140 km in Eco mode, with a standard 220V charge taking about 9 hours or just 50 minutes to 80% using a three-phase 380V superfast charger.

Measuring around 2.88 meters long, 1.56 meters wide, and 1.425 meters tall, it weighed approximately 542 kg with batteries, offered a ground clearance of 180 mm, and included dual luggage areas totaling 180 liters for everyday practicality.

Top speeds varied by market but reached 100-103 km/h, supported by 175/55 R15 tires and selectable driving modes like Economy, Race, Standard, and Rain for versatile performance.

Safety elements included a lightweight aluminum high-tech frame ensuring structural integrity at minimal weight, while its 15 kWh lithium-ion options in later tweaks extended range toward 200 km at moderate speeds.

Thanks to its lightweight aluminum construction, the Tazzari Zero weighs just 542 kg (1,195 lb) including the battery. Despite its compact nature, it comes with typical comfort features such as central locking, electric windows and mirrors, a CD/MP3 audio system, and 15-inch alloy wheels.

At the 2009 Bologna Motor Show Tazzari showcased the updated Zero Evo. The Evo version included upgrades like improved suspension, four-disc brakes with energy recuperation, and selectable driving modes (Eco, Race, Standard, Rain) for varied conditions.

This gave it a more dynamic feel with a low center of gravity and stable handling, though it stayed focused on urban use. It bridged the gap to later specialized models such as Zero Junior and Zero City.
