Arcimoto Generation 1 Prototype
The first model was built by Arcimoto in 2007. It was an open air 3-wheeler with a configurable rear section. The Generation 1 prototype was very fun to drive and incredibly efficient with space and materials.
The first generation prototype was equipped with two front wheels and single rear wheel, powered by an electric motor via chain drive. The driver is sitting in the middle an has no protection on the sides and above.
A lack of any protection from the elements and other objects limited the appeal and utility of this concept. The 3-wheeler was the first step of the company which led to the SRT and FUV ranges.
Arcimoto was founded in November 2007 in Eugene, Oregon, by Mark Frohnmayer. It showed the Pulse in September 2009, and in April 2011 revealed the SRK, which offered four body designs on a common chassis. After listing on NASDAQ in 2017, it began retail production and deliveries of the FUV in September 2019. In January 2023 the company idled its factory when cash ran low, and it was later delisted.
