Fiat Topolino To Be Revived As Tiny Electric Car
Fiat may revive the historic Topolino name. From 1936 to 1955, sedans, roadsters, vans and station wagons were called so. But now the name can get an electric car, wich will be a rebadged Citroen Ami / Opel Rocks-e EVs. The Italian will differ in trim, as well as a fabric roof, but the technical filling is likely to remain unchanged.
Rumors about the resurrection of the Topolino went back in 2008. Tiny cars were going to be built on a classic layout platform and even thought about launching a separate brand. Then one desire was not enough.
After moving under the wing of Stellantis (FCA and PSA), things went better for Fiat, and again there was talk of reviving the historical name. According to Automotive News Europe, the new Fiat Topolino will be nothing more than another iteration of the Citroen Ami EV.
The French electric car already has a twin brother – Opel Rocks-e. The Italian will feature more premium trim and possibly a fabric roof. But the technical equipment will remain unchanged. This means that Fiat Topolino will get an 8-horsepower electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 5.5 kilowatt-hours.
Without recharging it will be able to drive up to 75 kilometers (WLPT). Because both the Ami and the Rocks-e are classified as Light Passenger ATVs (L6e-BP), they do not require a driver’s license to drive. The French can drive from the age of 14, residents of other European countries – from 16.
