David Brown’s Mini eMastered equipped with a 97 hp electric motor

David Brown Automotive recently unveiled its latest classic Mini restomod, marking the company’s first foray into all-electric vehicles. Called the Mini eMastered, this electric Mini is known not only for its lively performance, but also for the many benefits that electric powertrains offer.

Maintaining the popular compact size and low weight of the classic Mini was critical for David Brown Automotive. They sought to avoid upsetting the car’s handling balance by avoiding a bulky battery pack that weighed hundreds of pounds. Instead, they equipped the Mini with a compact 18.8 kWh battery that powers an electric motor capable of 97 hp and 129 lb-ft (175 Nm) of torque. With these specifications, the Mini eMastered can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 8.5 seconds, with a top speed of 92 mph (148 km/h).

Despite its small battery pack, the Mini eMastered can travel a respectable 110 miles (177 km) on a single charge and supports 6.6 kW AC charging. The car takes approximately 3 hours to recharge using a typical home wall socket. Impressively, the weight of the car remains the same as the original internal combustion engine version, at just 640 kg (1,410 lbs).

David Brown Automotive has made a variety of upgrades to its Mini eMastered, not just in the powertrain. The exterior has been completely refreshed, with a color-matched front grille and an orange roof. Customers can also personalize their cars, ensuring that no two models will be identical.

Inside, the Mini features new brown leather seats, a wooden-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, and a Pioneer infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also bespoke aluminum switches and buttons throughout the cabin.
