Toyota Ultra Compact BEV

Toyota Ultra-Compact BEV

At the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, Toyota presents this new all-electric city car. The Japanese describe it as an Ultra-Compact BEV (battery electric vehicle). It is a two-seater that should enter the market by the end of 2020. Toyota plans to release the EV only in Japan.

The car is intended for short, urban journeys and takes up little space due to its compact size. Visiting your Japanese grandmother half an hour away is the perfect job for Toyota BEV. The operating radius is approximately 100 kilometers. Moreover, the electric car has a top speed of only 60 km/h.

The vehicle can be charged with 200V. It takes five hours to fully charge the battery. The BEV is 2.4 meters long, 1.2 meters wide and 1.5 meters high. The market launch will be in the winter of 2020. During the special exhibition “FUTURE EXPO” the BEV can be seen at the Tokyo Motor Show.

“We want to offer a mobility solution that can support an aging society in Japan and ensure freedom of movement for people at all stages of their lives,” explained the head of the development department, Akihiro Yanaka. “With Ultra-compact BEV, we are proud to offer our customers a car that not only provides greater autonomy, but also requires less space, creates less noise and minimizes environmental impact.”
