Renault Mobilize Duo
Renault has unveiled an electric car for the city called Mobilize Duo. The official debut of the new product is planned for the Paris Motor Show. According to the engineers, the car should offer its owners the comfort of a full-size car, despite its small size.
For example, the car has air conditioning, equipped with heated seats and even an airbag, while the multimedia system supports wireless connection to a smartphone.
Depending on the version, the car will have a top speed of 45 or 80 km/h. The Mobilize Duo is powered by a 48V electric motor, which is also used in the Renault Austral hybrid. Renault claims the car offers “strong acceleration” to city speeds.
The electric vehicle is equipped with a 10.3 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, which provides a range of up to 160 km on the WMTC cycle used for motorcycles and ATVs. At the same time, according to Renault, the car will be able to travel around 95 km in winter. It is also known that a car needs 3 hours 50 minutes to charge from 20 to 80%.
Interestingly, about 40% of the Mobilize Duo’s weight is made up of recycled materials, and it is claimed that 95% of its mass can be recycled when an electric vehicle is recycled. According to Renault, the Duo uses five times fewer parts than a conventional car.
The novelty will be produced along with the Dacia Sandero and Dacia Jogger at the Renault Group’s plant in Tangier, Morocco, which draws 90% of its energy from renewable sources.
Like Tesla, the Duo doesn’t have a physical key. Instead, a special MyDuo app compatible with iOS and Android smartphones is used to lock and unlock the car. Prices for the new product will start at 9,990 euros.
