Amberavto LSEV
Moscow Technical University has shown a prototype of a compact electric car being developed by order of the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. It is a compact hatchback falling under the category of ‘heavy quadricycles’: such equipment is registered as a motorbike, but it requires a car license to drive it.
The characteristics of the prospective model have not yet been declassified, but according to the regulations, it can not be more powerful than 20 hp, and the maximum speed of the machine can not exceed 50 km/h. Externally, the prototype looks like an ordinary car: two doors, four seats.
By the way, the mock-up of this very electric car became an object of ridicule and jokes last winter. The new design variant has nothing in common with that car.
Production of the new electric car is planned to start in 2025 in Kaliningrad under the brand ‘Amberavto’. Now there is only one electric car in the model range of this brand – the Amberavto A5 sedan.
According to the Moscow Technical University, the novelty can become a ‘people’s car’ for students and young families, as well as for car sharing and delivery services. However, there is no and has not been a single successful model of this category in Russia.
At the same time, Avtotor is considering the possibility of assembling a more traditional electric hatchback under a Chinese license.
