Aixam Mega e-Scouty

The Mega e-Scouty is an electric quadricycle launched in early 2023 by Aixam-Mega, a French manufacturer known for light vehicles that can be driven without a standard driving license in many European countries.

The e-Scouty was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l’Automobile) in 2022 as a license-free electric buggy-style vehicle.

The vehicle is powered by a 6 kW (8 hp) electric motor positioned at the front, delivering 40 Nm of torque. It is classified under the L6e category for light electric quadricycles, with a maximum speed limited to 45 km/h in accordance with European regulations for license-free vehicles.

The e-Scouty uses front-wheel drive with an automatic transmission via variator, featuring one forward gear, neutral, and one reverse gear.

Two battery options are available depending on the model year and trim. It uses 5.1 kWh to 7.44 kWh lithium-ion battery. The declared range varies between 75 km and up to 113 km. A full charge can be completed in 3 hours 40 minutes using a standard 220V domestic socket, with fast charging from 20% to 80% achievable in 1 hour 40 minutes.

The e-Scouty measures 2,632 mm in length, 1,500 mm in width, and approximately 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,795 mm. The curb weight is between 380 kg and 425 kg, with a maximum authorized mass of 635 kg to 675 kg depending on the specification. The vehicle features a trunk capacity of up to 700 liters (without the shelf and with partition) or 422 liters with the shelf installed.

The body is constructed from acrylic ABS on an aluminum structure, with reinforced doors and a design style described as off-road or buggy-inspired. Standard equipment includes 15-inch black alloy wheels with a “Seven” style design, electric sliding windows, a 3.5-inch TFT active matrix instrument cluster screen, and a 6.2-inch central touchscreen tablet with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Additional features include carbon-look decorative inserts, fabric upholstery, and a rear camera.

The suspension system uses independent front wheels with pseudo MacPherson triangulated design and helical springs, while the rear features independent wheels with trailing arms and helical springs. Both front and rear use hydraulic double-effect shock absorbers. Braking is handled by a dual-circuit system with wear limiter and automatic pad wear adjustment, featuring 220 mm front discs and 160 mm rear drums. The steering is rack-and-pinion with a turning radius of 4 meters.

The e-Scouty is positioned as a competitor to the Citroën Ami Buggy, with a starting price of €15,899, making it more expensive than the Ami but with more generous equipment and French production. The vehicle is marketed as an urban electric vehicle designed for daily commuting, with zero CO2 emissions and Crit’Air zero classification.

The e-Scouty is part of the Mega brand lineup under Aixam, which has been producing light vehicles since the company was established. The Mega brand was originally created in 1992 to cater to a more affluent customer segment than Aixam’s traditional microcar buyers.
